If your stanchions are badly scored (anodised coating worn down) its down to internals of the fork being worn out. This amount of wear could mean the fork has passed its functional life and needs to be replaced - but for older bikes the availability of parts to fit 26" wheel bikes is becoming a lot more scarce. There are 3 main options when the fork is this worn: 1) Replace the fork entirely - costly and not possible on all bikes. 2) Replace the whole crown steerer assembly - high cost and parts are not generally available for some older models. 3) Let Refresh Your Ride replace your stanchions and bring the fork back to life. With this service we replace your stanchions with high grade aluminium specifically produced for the job, we replace the internal bushing set - the likely culprit of the abrasion and we perform a lower leg service.
